The Groom Room
Before your appointment
There are some important policies for you to read through, it is also available in paper format (you get to keep a copy as a first-time client). Please familiarise yourself and in case you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Policies
Your pet is very important to me and his/her safety and well-being is at the utmost importance and I aim to make their visit as pleasant as possible. Before the grooming session, a short pre-groom inspection will be conducted to determine the condition of the coat and the approximate duration of the groom. Please stay with your dog for that time, so we can discuss things and have a clear understanding. The following policies are in place for full understanding and safety.

HEALTH OR MEDICAL ISSUES
For some dogs, grooming procedures can be stressful, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. I will obtain immediate veterinary treatment for your dog if deemed necessary, and it is agreed that all expenses for veterinary care will be covered by the owner.
ACCIDENTS
Although accidents are very rare, there is always a risk with animals. Some pieces of grooming equipment are sharp, and even though extreme caution care are used in all situations, possible problems could occur, such as nicks, cuts, scratches, quicking of the nails, etc. In most cases, this can happen while the pet is moving around suddenly. Your pet’s safety is the number 1 priority. In case an accident happens, you will be notified of it. In case the grooming staff believes it to be serious and the owner is not on-site or readily available, immediate veterinary care will be sought for your pet with the closest vet.
VACCINATIONS AND PARASITES
Unfortunately, any animal with infectious or contagious conditions will not be treated. this includes, but isn't limited to kennel cough, canine distemper virus, leptospirosis and parvovirus. Your dog should be up to date on his vaccinations. Please cancel your appointment in time if you notice any signs of illness or flea infestation or are aware of a contagious disease in your dog. Also, please note, that in case of finding fleas, I will do my utmost to get rid of them, but in case it’s a serious case, I will call you and ask you kindly to pick up your dog and reschedule once the issue has been resolved.
REFUSAL OF SERVICES (DANGEROUS OR AGGRESSIVE ANIMAL)
I reserve the right to refuse, suspend or cancel grooming services at any time before, during, or after grooming, if the pet is too agitated or becomes unsafe to groom. In case it’s not too extreme, muzzling may be needed. It is harmless and it ensures a safe groom for both your pet and the groomer. Dogs who require additional help to be managed, will be charged an extra fee added on top of the grooming fee (€25). This is due to the fact that grooming aggressive or frightened dogs takes significantly longer.
Please let me know in advance if your dog is aggressive with people/other pets, so I can make the necessary adjustment for a smooth grooming experience and time management.
INTERRUPTIONS
It is requested that you do not interrupt the groomer during grooming services for the safety of the animal being groomed. Every attempt will be taken to groom your pet as safely as possible, but continuing to work on an eager pet can be dangerous and is time consuming. Once your dog is ready to be collected, you will be notified, unless a time has already been agreed beforehand. :)

MATTED COATS
Animals with matted coats need special attention. Mats in an animal's coat can become so tight that they harm and tear the skin, providing a breeding ground for parasite infestations. By de-matting, we will not cause your pet any major or unnecessary stress. Mats can be tough to remove and may need shaving the pet - quite short at times, depending on how bad the matting is. Due to skin growths, dew claws trapped in the mats, removing a densely matted coat might result in nicks, cuts or abrasions. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin, causing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow and cause skin irritations that were not present previous to de-matting. Itching, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and hair failure are all possible side effects of mat removal techniques. Pets may also experience short behavioral changes in some situations. Grooming visits should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks for the best defense.
Please also note, that the groomer will try to save as much of the coat as possible in case of heavy knotting and tangling and matting, however if de-matting takes longer than anticipated, the appointment may be rescheduled or the coat will be shaved with an apt length blade - the priority here is comfort. There is an extra charge of €25 for matted dogs due to the extra time it takes and excess wear and tear to the equipment.
